In the year 2012, I will be the proud owner of a flat in Telok Blangah Towers! Fabulous place it is, close to town, vivocity, mrt, mount faber and all. Only little glitch i that i may not have the sea view that I wanted, as I stay on the 5th floor. But hell to that! Such an excellent location, it's a rare find for a new flat!

How did i manage to procure such a fabulous gem in the competitive new flats market? Py and I got it from the half yearly sale! There was 10053 applicants for this HDB scheme and we managed to get queue number 24!

Lady luck shines on me

Oh, and my girlfriend who is a flawless diamond dredged from a population of 2 million Singaporeans may be getting married with me, depending on her whims. She better, cos I got 2000$ option fee with the HDB which will be forfeited should she screw me up royally :).

Still the same.

Nothing's much changed, except I've been interested in stocks and shares.

Heard anou this Sunshine Empire a few months ago, and decided to do a bit of research on it. Realised that it is a scam. It has a " business model" that was named after Charles Ponzi. POnzi was a scam artist in the 1920's who cheated 10000 people in Boston, USA.

I hope that the CAD will shut this company down, and not let anymore people get cheated. Yes, of course there are some who joined in early made some money out of it, but at the end of the day, this business model is unsustainable and the bosses of sunshine empire knows it. Yet, he still goes on with it. Unethical.

Quiet

It's a quiet night for a little post.

I have Dean Martin's swing to accompany me, but the night's a tad bit too warm to sip some exquisite whiskey, so I'm going to post a little article today.

Quietness spreads through him as he settles down into his own skin. Turbulence that used to override his mind screams less now. He looks around his silent comfort zone and wonders, that what affected the change in him. Through the open window, he feels a breeze wafting. He peered out through the window. The sky is a clear deep purple, but the city light at the horizon drowned out the stars. Such a shame, he thought. He saw stars filling the skies in the past, atop a mountain. Then, the stars shimmered and twinkled in the cold air. He thinks about the days that brought him to the present. Such sweet memories, and painful experiences.

There was an accident that took away many things from him, but then again, nothing was lost that could not be recovered. There were beautiful days in a land far away, surreal and dreamy. It was like a long holiday he took, not so long ago, yet it feels like a chapter way back in the past. The days now seem more rooted to reality, but still beautiful nonetheless. The surrealism is replaced by a sense of comfort now. Quiet comfort.

He sits in the room, listening to soft country music in silence.

These days, the life seem to sail smoothly across warm waters. After kicking up a dust in China, things seemed to have settled down remarkably well. Well, nothing much going on these few weeks, as I mentioned, smooth sailing.

Things are not so fine for my third uncle though. He's dead. Pancreatic cancer, nasty stuff. It's the second worst cancer, after liver cancer. The percentage of survival for those afflicted with such a disease is abysmally low; 3%. My uncle fought a hard battle with cancer, going through 4 operations in 6 months, only to succumb to defeat on 17th of August 2007. God rest his soul. I visited him while he was still battling cancer last month. His body was yellow from jaundice and his movement sluggish from fatigue. Yet, he was still able to joke and remain cheerful. Really puts the "happy people remains happy, and sad stays sad, no matter what they go through" theory to the test. My uncle's condition also puts my in perspective. My injured arm seems so minor compared to his illness.

Well, highlight of the day, I saw my friend's hilarious msn nick. It is a sentence describing a lady's wet locks in misty rain. He probably quoted it from a really bad high school essay, I pray to God that the sentence wasn't his original work. The sentence goes " Her hair glistened in the rain like a nose hair after a sneeze". Beautiful, beautiful, such poetry. Evokes images of a beautiful lady waving her shiny flowing locks in the fresh spring drizzle doesn't it? Heh heh.

Msn nicks does sometimes hint a little about how our friends are doing. There's this guy in my msn that went " it was beautiful while it lasted", and " pain doesn't go away".. Well I assumed he just broke up or something. Haven't got around to asking him though.

It's 5.50 am already. Wow, time flies. Well gotta wake up early for my physiotherapy.

My post destroys the world

Quitting cigarettes makes you fat. I'm serious. I've gained 3 kg since I've quit, and sad to say, I can't seem to stop stuffing my face.

Imagine if this little fact were to leak out; smoking slims you down and quitting it, turns you back into a tubby, how many aspiring anorexic women would be puffing away! Not only that, many fat self conscious men and women will indulge in this habit. My post would ruin millions of lives with carcinogenic tragedies and burdens of medical bills, increase sales of tobacco products, which would in turn increase demand for tobacco, jacking up the price of the crop, resulting in increase in revenue of tobacco farmers. Seeing planting tobacco would be a more lucrative cash crop, other farmers will ditch rice/wheat/barley/maize cultivation and zoom straight into tobacco farming. Unfortunately, this would decrease the supply of available staple food, jacking up the price of that as well. The poor would find it more difficult to get a full meal, resulting in increased cases of malnutrition and worsening famine all around. The price increase in staple food will bring about an inflation, and people will start hoarding food, fearing insufficiency. Supermarkets will be emptied, queues will form to buy food, and very soon money would worth lesser and lesser. All this will spiral into madness. governments would discharge its reserve grains into the market, and call for rationing but to no avail. Disenchanted citizens frustrated by the constant lack of food will protest, demonstrate, loot and pillage whatever establishments still standing. Cities will smoulder from anarchy and molotov cocktails. Charred cars will be left uncleared on the roads. Economy grinds to a stand still. Crime, paranoia and hoplessness will seep into every crevice of the remaining civilisation. Some governments will impose a state of emergency, some governments will be toppled by people who are sick of diplomatic moderate leaders and elect radical hardliners in its stead. Some governments will unite the people with fear, and look for a minority race to pile their blames on. Countries go into wars to usurp each others' rapidly depleting resources. Very soon, countries across the world will take sides. World War breaks out. One side would emerge victorious. Borders and boundaries of countries will change. Ccountries belonging to the fallen side surrender their land and resources. Countries will disappear, or be split. The people slowly regain their senses and reality, they will work to rebuild their life and country. But it will never be the same again.

The very world you know of will disintegrate because of my post. Man, I am destructive.

On a sidenote, I had a great japanese buffet dinner with her to celebrate my accomplishment of staying a full six months in a relationship. I pat myself on the back.

Fatigue

A feeling of mental exhaustion, possibly caused by an excessive draining of emotions. The result is a general feeling of numbness, a formal, ceremonial sensation, accompanied by a slight strain at the back of the head.

Scrolling down scanning through the past postings, I realised that I have plagued my blog with sappy phrases that reeks of honeymoon. Oh woe is me, have I turned into this starry eyed fool who frolics in his world of sweet romance, a place where the law of physics, or reality for that matters, holds no authority at all? Better not be answering that.

I looked around in my quiet room, and wondered if I'm starting to see things with less glitter effect already, or I have just temporarily became a sour, balding, wrinkly old man.

Whatever it is, I discovered that I have actually became this silly person looking totally lost in love, like the male lead in a bad romance novel. To my bigger surprise, in spite of the loathing I have for syrupy romance, I realised that I loved everyday of it. Such contradictions.

Well, hope there's still enough of a sap in me to keep the romance sappy. This reminds me of a song " Guys and Dolls" by Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.

This is a story of two people, starting from the middle of chapter 2; Singapore

Another month twirled pass him like a whirling dervish. Times got much better when she came back to Singapore. They had moments of comfort and bits of arguements, but never got mad at each other for long.

It was a quiet month, where she spent most of it settling into a new chapter and he spent it doing nothing constructive.

Lacking inspiration, the author decides to put the story on hold for the moment.

Water and Mountains

I found my piece of doodling I did during ancient characters class that turned out pretty well..
Nothing much to add today, things are still pretty much the same, except I'm able to venture out into the exciting streets of Singapore, after being cooped up for 3 weeks.

My right hand is going to develop karpal tunnel from over using now that it has to take over the typing burden of two hands. Took out the stitches on my thumb and wrist, fortunately for me, the scars on my wrist didn't look deep, despite the injury. Pretty glad of that really, I was a little worried that I'll be mistaken for a suicidal person if I had deep scars across my wrist...

Oh yes, she's coming back tomorrow.

The fall

On 22nd May, 2007 9.10 am, I met an accident. The accident left my left forearm horribly injured. My nerves, tendons, arteries and muscles were cut and torn.

Being a left hander, such an injury would set a few hurdles for me. The pain sometimes is intolerable without the help of string pain killers.

Guess what, I got cut by glass. Never ever put your hand though cheap glass partition doors.

My time with her is amazing. So many days of smiles, laughter and intimacy. I suspect our friends were jealous.. that we could just sweep each other off our feets and connect like the final piece of a jigsaw puzzle.

We started so beautifully, like everything is too good to be true. We were in a romantic novel, with the shiny look in each others' eyes, the oblivious joy only we share. We pissed our friends off I suspect.

I think, after some time, when the surreal glow and the originality of it all wears off, we tend to get a bit less patient with each others' irrationality. Quarrels come, no major conflicts, but little ones that wore us down a little sometimes. I was unreasonably irrational and stubbornly unwilling to discuss my feelings.

I always had the idea that discussing feelings will make me feel vulnerable and lose control over our relationship, that I would become the one begging. After many a petty arguements, a substantial amount started by me, I learnt a thing or two about relationships.

Don't let problems hang there like an execeuted prisoner. Anger would fester in our minds.

Well it's the 4th month we've been together today. I loved everyday that I'm with her, without a shred of regret, just an ache of longing when she's not with me.

The day that started

We sat on the sofa. It was cold, so we sat pretty close together, wrapped under a warm quilt. We were thirsty, so we drank a fair amount of beer. There were also too many thoughts on my mind... so I was smoking a little more than usual. As we inhaled our cigarettes, we watched the opening credits of a movie

We were in the living room, just the two of us, and the cold air. The lights was switched off, and we were sitting so close together, our cold feet touching, but we pretended that we didn't notice that. The light from the television screen dimly lit our faces with a cool blue light. I looked at her eyes. They were reflecting the dancing light on the TV screen. She looked like she didn't notice that our feet are touching while we both sat cross-legged on the sofa, warm under a soft quilt

I looked into her eyes as the credits of the movie we were watching started rolling. We were sitting ever closer. Our bodies were gently touching. Did we edge closer because of the cold?I didn't even notice. She looked straight at the telly, not even catching my glance. After five bottles of beer, I wasn't really thinking hard. I just knew I wanted to kiss her. I leaned over and gently pecked on the cheek before she had the time to react.

She noticed now. How closely we huddled, how I looked at her after i pecked her cheek. She gave a face of mild bewilderment fashioned in an awkward smile, and wanted to say something. I leaned over a kissed her again, in the mouth this time before she said a word. She leaned back and slided onto the sofa seat, our arms embracing, bodies entangled in a spontaneous whirl of romance

Hello.

Reading my last blog, i realised that wow.. I haven't been doing any postings! Well to no one inparticular out there, the time between september 2006 and april 2007 has been a hell of a ride for me. Though i suppose no one's going to be really interested, but well, screw you! It's my blog and I can inflict what ever verbal diahrroea I want on it.

And look out there through the window, between sep 06 to april 07, things have changed for lots of people too. No one like Bush now, not even his own parliment, Boris Yelstin died pissed at Putin. Taiwan had an earthquake that threw internet connection in asia back to stone age. Venezuela elected this crazy leftist president Chavez who is pissing off lots of oil companies. Castro almost died. The North Koreans got their dream weapon at the expense of many hungry folks.. And I'm doing an internship in China with this wonderful girl I met over here.

Dancer in the Dark

Directed by Lars Von Trier, done in Dogme 95 style and acted by Bjork.

Bloody marvellous, and very tragic.

It's a semi musical, and the songs in the movie, so creative, so filled with emotions, raw and untainted, unlike those plastic commercial hits you hear nowadays ( think of maroon5, or some cheesy chinese female/male singer who can't pen nor compose. Oh yeah, and they can't sing either.)

It's a show that's a bit of a character study. The extend that people will go to hoard what they hold dear.

It's a story about love, sacrifice, in the cruelest sense.

Well i shall not divulge too much, you have to see it for yourself

Young Frankenstein the movie

Watched Young Frankenstein.. it's an old movie that's like a tribute and a parody to the frankenstein classic. The story goes like this;

The grandson of the late Baron Von Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein an accomplished neurosurgeon, went back to the castle in Transylvannia to do something( forgot what he was going to do), leaving his primp playing-hard-to-get fiancee( she won't let Frankenstein kiss her cos it'll smear her lipstick) behind.

Along the way to the castle at the misty looking train station, he was recieved by Igor( pronounced eye-gor in the movie) with a brit accent and a beautiful blond lab assistant( She looked like Dharma in the Dharma & Greg sitcom) with a fake german accent. Despit Frederick's incessant dismissals of his grandfather's work on creating life from dead tissue earlier in the movie, he ended up re-animating a corpse anyway. The 'creature' also happened to be 7 feet tall with heavy ridges on the forehead and squarish looking skull. Just like the creature in the old Frankenstein movie...Coincidence? hmm.

Anyway, the 'creature' he created turned out to be a little on the slow side and was actually just a frightened child who was misunderstood as a dangerous monster blah blah.... To display his genius work to the world, Frederick teamed up with the creature to perform a little tap dancing act to the background of swing jazz music to the crowd of scientists and intellects. Hmm. Halfway through the act, one of the spotlights on the stage burst into flames and the 'creature' went predictable berserk( he hates fires). He went ahead and scared away the audience, only to be apphrehended by the police. While in jail, the 'creature' knocked a policeman who was taunting him cold and broke out of jail. He went back to the castle to kidnap Frederick's fiancee( Oh yeah, Fred's fiancee came over to the castle to see how he was doing, and meanwhile, Frederick was screwing the lab assistant behind her back.. heheheh). He brought Frederick's fiancee to some eerie place and showed her what a monster Frederick never was... and she loved it.. all seven times of it...

So the worried Fred tried to lure the 'creature' back with violin music(the creature loves violin music), fearing for his fiancee's safety, genuinely ignorant to the fact that the ' creature' and his fiancee were having the time of their lives. With the 'creature' strapped tightly back in the castle, Frederick Frankenstein did another experiment to rectify the monster's lack of intelligence( the monster could only moan and groan) so that he would act more intelligently and not be maligned as a menace. Halfway through the procedure, the townfolks chose that opportune moment to charge into the castle with blazing torches and pitchforks... typical... Naturally, the experiment was slightly botched and Frederick was slightly unconcious for a while. Meanwhile, the 'creature' woke up from the procedure, apparantly changed and spoke articulately to the villagers, reassuring them that he was just another harmless fellow. The villagers, satisfied that the 'creature' was not danger to them, shook hands with him and left. wtf..

Fast forward to an undisclosed time in the future. Frederick was married with the lab assistant and Frederick's fiancee married the 'creature'. The 'creature' is lying on the bed reading newspapers, wearing half moon glasses and looking really bored of his talktative horny wife( no longer playing-hard-to-get). And the next scene, Frederick was lying in bed with the lab assistant, and she wondered if there were any side effects from the botched procedure that her hubby suffered... and he proceeded to show her what a monster he was.... hahahahaha

This is supposed to be one of those great classics... I don't get it.. hmm. The show is funny in a corny way, with some slapstick humour and poking fun of the characters in the old frankenstein movie... but a great classic, nope...

I rather watch seven samurai again, now.. that's a great classic

Slightly hectic

Bit of a busy week I'm gong through, rushing trivial projects and working here and there, losing precious sleep in the process. And between those times I have to fit in lunch, dinner, cleaning myself, entertainment and such.. wow.. I'm even busier than during my exam period...

It's a good start to the holidays isn't it? At least I'm not slacking around at home... often. OK time to catch a bit of sleep, go to work, and try to find out more about the feasibility of a working holiday in America. Serenity of an angel

Angel I found on the net, don't know the artist...

I found this picture on the net while trying look for a model to base my drawings of an angel on.... Well you guys may not notice, but the serenity on her face is so beautiful, the little smile that reminds your of a doting mother, looking passively, giving a quiet protection to the sleeping child who felt the warmth and safety in her embrace. So many emotions, so many feelings just on the face of the angel. It is the serenity I couldn't draw. My angels look like sluts with wings in comparism..... must have been all that porn.....

You need to have peace in your heart to draw peace, and love in you to draw love. It's the same as poetry, pain in you will reflect anger, hurt, in your poems and love in you will bring out the best romantic verse you could ever conjure. Psychologically speaking, it's a bit of the fruedian thing, where your creative work reflects your subconsious. I must be missing something, something that drinks can not give and eyes can not find. I've been a Christian for more than half a year, not counting the backsliding time, and yet, there's still something that eluded me. Maybe it's things I could not give up or surrender, or could it be I've not given enough?

It's a point to ponder for myself, I shall relieve you of your misery of reading this verbal diarrhea. Good night.

With my sleeping patterns messed up, ( I sleep in the day) I found myself with plenty of free time in the night as there's nothing else to do...

Hence, I found more time to indulge myself in my little hobby, drawing....

This picture I did is from my imagination, with the intended theme of something dreamy, somehow it turned out to look a bit like an erotic art, but screw it, I still found the essense of dream in it. Is she having a good dream or nightmare, or is she the dream itself, or she's real and all the dream sequence is an attempt to conceal her vulnerability, I can't tell.
